Almost the 4th

Seeing as how the Fourth of July is right around the corner I decided to make some lucky friends and family members Independence Day cards. This one used some patriotic paper that I won in a giveaway at the LSS and a page topper that I purchased a million years ago from QVC.I jazzed it up with some flowers and brads from an Oriental Trading patriotic kit.Simple, but it gets the job done.

I'll have more cards tomorrow!

Some of my first creations...

Seeing as how I'm really only using scraps and tons of old supplies to do my cards at the moment I don't have any supply lists. I regret not having this information because some of the things I'm using are adorable and I'd love to share their makers with the world. I hope to keep better track of things as time goes on.
I have been saving my scraps for ages. Sometimes they would go to use on a scrapbook page, but more often then not they just sat in their organized bins.

I have been reading tons of card and scrapbooking blogs lately-- due to the ease of Google reader-- and one of the gals suggested that once you complete a scrapbook page you use the scraps to make a card. It was one of those "Duh!" moments for me-- why didn't I think of that?? Less waste + more used up supplies = one happy husband and one happy cropper!

I have been using lots of old bits and pieces that have just been stock-piled in my scrapbook room and it feels so good.

One of my goals for the upcoming MOPS year is to communicate more via the mail. It is such a lost art-- writing and sending notes-- and I know how much a card can mean to someone. My new hobby gives me tons of fun cards to send to friends.
Oddly enough the Hero Arts Club blog challenge this week was to make a photo card and I just made this one a few weeks ago for my grandfather for Father's Day. It is an old picture, but it's another great way to use up pictures that didn't make it onto my layout.

I'm really enjoying my card-making foray!!!

A place for my creative musings...

Well since I'm getting into making cards these days, I thought it would be fun to have a blog just to share my creative stuff! In the posts to come I hope to share my scrapbooking pages, projects, and my cute new cards all made in the Dopey room (aka my scrapbooking studio!)

Thanks for stopping by!

Love,
Heather
